Avi Amir

Avi Amir is the Chairman and Founder of Homes by Avi, one of Western Canada’s most respected homebuilding and community development companies. Since founding the company in Calgary in 1978, Avi has helped shape the residential landscape across Alberta and Texas, leading the organization with a vision grounded in quality craftsmanship, customer experience, and long-term community building. 

Under his leadership, Homes by Avi has built more than 25,000 homes and expanded into land development, multifamily construction, condominiums, and property management. Avi was also an early champion of sustainable building practices, helping position Homes by Avi among the first Alberta builders to adopt energy-efficient R-2000 construction standards. 

Known for his entrepreneurial spirit and values-driven leadership, Avi has built a company culture focused on integrity, innovation, and lasting relationships. Homes by Avi has earned numerous industry accolades, including Builder of the Year honours, Canada’s Best Managed Companies recognition, and awards for customer service and business ethics. 

In recognition of his leadership and significant community impact, Avi Amir was awarded Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee Medal (Alberta) in 2022. In 2023, Avi also received the Business in Calgary Leaders Award for leadership excellence, recognizing his longstanding influence in business and community development. 

Today, Avi continues to serve as Chairman, supporting the next generation of leadership while remaining actively engaged in the company’s long-term vision and community impact initiatives.
