High school students come together to explore what it means to be an entrepreneur, how to start a business, and examine critical business processes. Students across southern Alberta identify target markets, analyze competitive advantages, and develop a business plan and strategy.
Skilled Trade Summit
JA Canada is partnering with Colleges and Institutes Canada to host Skilled Trades Summits across Canada. By providing a hands-on experience, students will enhance their understanding and knowledge of skilled trades as a meaningful and fulfilling career path.
Personal Finance
Students develop an understanding of key financial skills, including how education, income, and planning impact personal finances. They learn the importance of budgeting, saving, making informed credit choices, and protecting themselves from financial risks.
Be Entrepreneurial
High school students come together to explore what it means to be an entrepreneur, how to start a business, and examine critical business processes. Students across southern Alberta identify target markets, analyze competitive advantages, and develop a business plan and strategy.
World of Choices
Students learn from speakers and participate in group discussions with career mentors from a variety of different industries. Students can explore potential career pathways in skilled trades, professional services, manufacturing, engineering, technology, and more!
Investment Strategies
Students build essential knowledge about the principles of investing and gain real-world experience applying their skills. The program includes both interactive classroom lessons and students can participate in an online stock market simulation.
Economics For Success
Students discover how their interests and strengths connect to future careers, explore post-secondary options, and learn budgeting skills. Students are equipped with the financial tools they will need to shape life after high school and their careers.
Success Skills
Students build a toolkit of transferable skills that will enable them to increase resilience and improve outcomes through challenging situations. They also develop stronger communication with critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Dollars With Sense
Students gain essential personal money management skills and learn how to apply them in everyday life, building financial confidence and preparing for real-world decisions that support long-term success.
Our Business World
Students learn what a business is, how businesses make a profit, how they benefit communities, why they evolve, and explore what it means to be an entrepreneur. Students will learn about Canadian businesses and the types of products and services they sell.
Our Country
Students explore how technology has evolved and shaped business and society. They’ll learn about Canadian inventors, changes in key industries, and use creativity to design future products or technologies that solve real-world problems.
A Business of Our Own
In A Business of Our Own, students become the Presidents and CEOs of their very own retail sales business. They use a business models to plan how the business operates, identify target markets, and explore promotional strategies. Students calculate productivity, build income and expense projections, and learn how teamwork supports success.
Our Community
Students get a closer look at the jobs that keep their community running. They’ll learn how different careers help meet people’s needs, how money moves between homes and businesses, and what tools and skills are needed to get the job done.
More Than Money
Students learn how to earn, spend, and save money, and explore steps involved in creating, building and running a business. They’ll also gain an understanding of global trade and how imports and exports contribute to business success.
